The Location RedNote Shows You Is a Lie

The platform tells you where they are. The platform is wrong — and it hands you what you need to prove it.

July 27, 2026 |

Every RedNote — Xiaohongshu, 小红书 — profile carries a little line most people scroll straight past: an IP location. On the account in front of us it reads 越南, Vietnam. Tidy, official-looking, printed by the platform itself. And yet the feed below it is wall-to-wall Chinese military honour-guard footage — the 仪仔队, flags, parade grounds, the works — posted day after day. Here is the trap: that tag only tells you where the device connected from, not who is behind it or where they are really based. It could be a traveller. It could be something else entirely. The label answers almost nothing — but the platform, if you know where to look, answers a great deal more. That is the gap this post lives in.

Below, we go hunting — past the label the platform wants you to believe, deeper into RedNote itself, follow the traces it doesn’t think you’ll notice, and surface where this person really is.
